February 2020

Message from FAMP President Gino Moro

A large group of our FAMP Officers, Directors and Members from across the State met in Tallahassee to Lobby for the Mortgage industry in the beginning of February. Many of our Senators and Representatives were on site and we spent the day meeting each of them as well as their Aides. I want to thank Nationwide Appraisal Network who generously sponsored FAMP Lobby Days and sent their very own Jason McMullen who joined us in Tallahassee.

This year we have added the FAMP Legislative Action Center to our website which can be found under the Resources tab. This is an amazing tool which will empower you and guide you on how to stand up for your profession. Here you can lookup your local Legislators and find the Bills affecting our industry that FAMP is monitoring as well as our position on these Bills and so much more.

Stand with FAMP AND NAMB as WE Lobby for the Broker-Borrower Relationship in Bill to Ban Trigger Leads

Please sign our petition in support of protection of broker-borrower relationship in bill to ban trigger leads!

In the home lending world, trigger leads are a multi-million-dollar business. National credit bureaus sell trigger leads to mortgage lenders based on online data that indicate when a consumer is “shopping” for home financing. Unaware consumers enter a sufficient amount of their personal information into an online inquiry. From there, the consumers data is transferred to credit bureaus and sold to home financing companies and unfortunately, the broker has no control over when this happens.

In addition to efforts protecting the mortgage broker industry, NAMB is advocating that the much-needed consumer protection of data be exempt of impacting the ability of the mortgage broker who originated the relationship to maintain an ongoing relationship with the borrower, as well as the company who holds the servicing rights.

The elimination of selling consumers data will contribute to restoring and maintaining the relationship with brokers and borrowers.

NAMB members recognize and value their long-term relationships with borrowers. Support NAMB and the Trigger Leads Abandonment Act in a Bill to Ban Trigger Leads.

We need your help to support this bill and protect the broker-borrower relationship!
